An antique T. & C. Clark & Co. black cast iron stovetop kettle, manufactured at the Shakespeare Foundry in Wolverhampton, England. This design dates to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period (circa 1880–1900), featuring clear stamped maker's markings on the base reading ENGLAND, FIRST QUALITY, and No 3. The No. 3 stamp designates a 3-quart (approx. 2.85-litre) capacity. T. & C. Clark is historically notable for introducing the landmark 1839 patent for toxin-free domestic ironware.
The kettle is in good structural condition with no cracks or repairs. The exterior has a weathered, rustic patina suited for display. The interior has a typical buildup of scale and rust from decades of water boiling and will require a thorough cleaning or restoration if intended for practical use. This item includes its matching cast iron No. 3 lid, which fits properly and is often missing from kettles of this age.
