Up for sale is a genuine vintage 1967 Australian Army M-1956 Large Field Pack (widely known among militaria enthusiasts as the "Vietnam Pack").
This heavy-duty canvas pack was standard issue for Australian soldiers during the Vietnam War, designed specifically to carry heavy field gear over rough terrain. It features integrated, thick padded back straps and an internal rigid backboard system to distribute weight comfortably across your back during long marches.
If you look inside the top lid flap, the original military inspection stamps are remarkably clear and legible. It features the C.G.C.F. stamp (Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory) alongside the Broad Arrow defense property mark, the National Stock Number (8465-66-017-), and the official 1967 production date.
The heavy-duty olive canvas, brass hardware, and webbing straps remain robust and fully intact. It is exceptionally comfortable to carry for rugged outdoor hiking, or functions perfectly as an authentic display piece for military collectors.
- Condition Note: The canvas is clean and solid. The inner closure drawstring has been replaced with a functional blue cord, but the pack is otherwise completely original.
