Rare & Authentic Antique WWI Iron Ball & Chain Shackle Set (Dated 1916)
An exceptional, 100% original early 20th-century penal or military prison constraint set. This museum-quality piece features a heavy sand-cast iron ball anchored to a hand-forged, fire-welded wrought iron chain, terminating in a classic barrel-thread ankle shackle. Unlike modern reproductions, every component of this set is period-correct and has aged together beautifully.
  • Maker Marks & Stamps: The base of the locking barrel is clearly stamped "EI & Co" and dated "1916". The side of the ankle hoop is stamped with inventory number "137".
  • Locking Mechanism: Features a rare and fully functional screw-key system. Includes the original wide-head iron key stamped with inventory number "147" that threads smoothly into the barrel to secure the shackle.
  • Condition: Excellent antique condition with a rich, dark oxidized iron patina. The metalwork shows classic historical blacksmithing markers without destructive pitting.
