Authentic late 19th to early 20th-century sand-cast brass coachbuilder's nameplate from F. Northcott (Frank Northcott), historic coach, wagon, and motor body builders based at 533-585 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne.
This genuine vintage buggy plate features an elegant stylized script engraving, crisp stamped address typography, and an iconic asymmetrical double-arrowhead structural form. Cast using traditional methods, the reverse shows a beautiful sand-molded texture with a slight recessed profile engineered to sit completely flush against wooden chassis panels or footboards.
Features three original mounting holes (two end tabs, one central) for reinforcement. Displays a magnificent, unpolished aged patina with authentic surface wear that highlights its structural history. A premium, highly collectible artifact of early Australian transport history.
Dimensions: 34cm (W) x 3.5cm (H) x 1cm (D)
Weight: 300g
Condition: Excellent antique condition with natural patina and readable text.
