A beautifully preserved, 100% authentic early 20th-century glass butter churn produced by the Standard Churn Manufacturing Company (Wauseon, Ohio, USA). This striking piece of primitive kitchenalia serves as an exceptional investment for serious collectors of vintage dairy equipment, rustic farmhouse decor, or unique Americana.
Unlike more common brands, this top casting proudly features the crisp, embossed "S" inside a hexagon maker's mark on the gear housing. The clear glass square jar is clearly molded with a prominent "4 QT" capacity marking on the sloped shoulder. It also includes the highly sought-after zinc screw-cap lid with an integrated wire whey strainer mesh screen.
Condition Report:
  • Mechanical: The cast iron hand-crank mechanism and drive gears interlock perfectly and turn smoothly.
  • Glass: The 4-quart square glass body is structurally sound. The heavily threaded rim is crisp with no major cracks or structural damage.
  • Interior: The original interlocking X-shaped wooden paddle blades remain secure, solid, and free of dry rot or wood splitting.
  • Patina: The cast iron frame displays an honest, uniform "chocolate" oxidation patina. It has been left completely undisturbed and uncleaned to preserve its historical integrity and maximum collector value.
