This rare, matching pair of early 20th-century Australian historical terracotta chimney pots was manufactured by Abbott & Son (Wimmera Pottery) in Five Dock, Sydney (circa 1910–1920s). Pieces from this specific Sydney foundry are highly collectible and represented in permanent museum collections, including the Powerhouse Museum.
The set features identical short-bellied profiles, matching roll-top rims, and clean, legible maker's stamps accompanied by the incised size numeral "10". Both pieces are fully open-bottomed architectural salvage.
Condition Notes:
  • Weathering & Patina: Both pots display a beautiful, authentic aged patina with natural lime efflorescence and minor surface scuffs consistent with age.
  • Structural Wear (Left Pot): One pot shows more distinct signs of historical wear, including structural chips around the lower base flange and an attached fragment of original rooftop lime bedding mortar. These elements do not impact structural stability and offer excellent historical provenance.
Location & Pickup:
  • Location: Available for pickup in Thornleigh, NSW 2120 (located in Sydney's Upper North Shore / Hornsby area).
These pots make an exceptional architectural statement when used as unique garden planters, structural features in a landscape layout, or rustic interior design accents.
