Available is a heavy, beautifully constructed antique ring door knocker in the iconic Gothic Revival style, dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian era (c. 1890s–1910s).
Cast from solid brass/bronze, this authentic piece of British architectural salvage features an excellent natural aged patina and original verdigris on the reverse. A unique design element is the integrated central viewing grille/portcullis window. Originally, a small viewing port was cut into the wooden front door directly behind this grate, allowing the homeowner to see visitors before opening the door.
The thick, heavy swing arm remains fully functional and produces a loud, resonant knock. This premium piece of historical ironmongery is the perfect finishing touch for a heritage home restoration, Federation or Tudor facade, or a custom timber gate.
